Google Search Ranking Algorithm Tremors August 6th & 7th I am seeing signals of yet another Google search ranking algorithm update. There is a lot of new chatter from within the SEO community starting yesterday August 6th through today August 7th about ranking changes. Some of the tools are showing higher than normal fluctuations as well this morning. As you know, we cover a lot of  Google algorithm updates   and they happen frequently. But I try to only cover the ones where I see both an increase in SEO community chatter. So when SEOs begin to take notice and we have not just a few, but a larger number of SEOs in the community noticing changes to the sites they manage. Then I also look to validate that chatter with the Google rank checking tools to see if they see a spike. Google Updates for Search Console API Infrastructure: What You Need To Know Google announced this morning it has been upgrading the infrastructure for the Google Search Console API. Google said this is an infrastructure change and that "API is backward compatible and there are currently no changes in scope or functionality." Google Panel Tests New Interface For Local Q&A Box But there are a few things to note. Changes on Google Cloud Platform dashboard : you’ll see is a drop in the old API usage report and an increase in the new one. API key restriction changes : if you have previously set API key restrictions, you might need to change them. Discovery document changes : if you’re querying the API using a third-party API library or querying the Webmasters Discovery Document directly, you will need to update it by the end of the year. There is chatter and there are third-party tracking tools that seem to suggest there was some sort of update. Google has not confirmed any Google algorithm update from this weekend, so this would be Google updating as normal to them.
